General rule is that if your original hand is a hard 17 or higher, stand as the odds of busting if hit is very high.
16 of the 52 cards are 10-value cards(31%)
By the casino's rule, the dealer will always hit if he has a total of 16 or less.
If the dealer's total is 17 or above, he must stand.

Splitting Pairs:
Whenever a pair is dealt to the player in his original hand, the player has the option of splitting them into two hands.
We shoud we split and when should we not split?
The general rule is that we split the cards when we have a weak hand and not split when the hand is strong.
Always split a pair Aces.
By splitting, you'll have a total of 11. Regardless of the dealer's card, when allowed - double down.
So when you have two Aces, split then double down.
Have a pair of 10's? Don't split, always stand. A pair of 10's is a strong hand and the odds of getting a hand as that good or better is slim.
Split a pair of 8's, as a total of 16 is a weak hand. It's easy to beat by the dealer and also it's hard to improve upon without getting bust.
Never split a pair of 4's and 5's, because a total of 8 or 10 aren't bad hand as the odds are fairly good to draw a 10-value card and have .
